Cleaning Up Trails At Adelphi Mill Recreation Center

On March 16, 2024, EcoHorizons collaborated with a local nonprofit, ecoLatinos, to organize a trash clean-up event for local middle and high schoolers in Adelphi, MD. We cleaned a 2-mile trail along the Adelphi Mill Recreation Center, a park that houses a historic 18th-century mill, in fact one of the largest surviving mills in the DC area. Therefore, it was very important for us to maintain the park for visitors, weddings, and other special occasions that regularly occur there.

Most of our 25 volunteers came from the nearby High Point High School, and we ended up collecting over 200 pounds of trash and recycling. We were very excited about the large turnout and hope to regularly organize such activities in partnership with ecoLatinos in the future.
